Victorian Government announces funding for multicultural and multifaith communities
8 May 2020
The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture (Foundation House) welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement of measures to assist people from multicultural and multifaith communities to deal with challenges arising from the coronavirus pandemic.
The package of assistance includes help for young people and families in financial hardship, including asylum seekers living in our community. There will be funding for culturally-appropriate family violence prevention strategies, as well as for the enhanced provision of vital information in languages other than English.
The current environment is particularly challenging for our clients, their families and communities, and the actions announced by the Victorian Government will help them and others to access the critical services they need during this time.
